Fossil Hunt at our Eocene Fossil Site

The public is welcome to visit Stonerose and search for their own fossils in our Eocene fossil beds. At the time of your visit, the Stonerose staff will explain our rules for digging and how to find fossils. After showing all your finds to the staff for identification, you may keep three fossils per day.

We’ve received some questions lately about the wildfires causing us to close. We’re still open! As of right now Republic is not in any evacuation zones, but we see how the air quality is a concern. Please refer to the National weather service for some safety tips to help plan your trip to Stonerose!

It’s about time I introduce myself! Hi everyone!

It’s about time I introduce myself! Hi everyone! My name is Isabel, and I manage the social media for Stonerose. I spent 4 summers working as a seasonal employee, and wanted to stay involved after moving away from Republic WA. These days I work in the psychiatric field, along with finishing up my psych degree at EWU. Therefore, I like to stay busy, and occasionally slip the weekly fossil post. Feel free to stay on top of me in our DMs! I would love to see all of the fossils everyone are finding, and it has a high likelihood of making it onto our page! With that being said, I do apologize for dropping the ball on posting lately, and would love some help from all of you! Thanks to everyone who is supporting Stonerose.
