Attention Fossil Finders!
The Stonerose Boot Hill Site has been open to the public since 1989, and during that time, many fossils have been discovered by our visitors and amateur paleontologists. Any fossils that staff are unable to identify are always investigated by the scientific community. When determined to be a new species, our researchers publish the discovery in a scientific journal. Many times the species name is derived from the finder, whoever he or she maybe. You too could have a fossil named after you!
Below are some examples of “Finder’s Fossils” that have been discovered at our Boot Hill fossil locality.
