Fossil Hunt at our Eocene Fossil Site

The public is welcome to visit Stonerose and search for their own fossils in our Eocene fossil beds. At the time of your visit, the Stonerose staff will explain our rules for digging and how to find fossils. After showing all your finds to the staff for identification, you may keep three fossils per day.

FOSSIL PLANTS FROM REPUBLIC: A GUIDEBOOK

This guidebook was created to help you identify your own fossils.  Included are photos and descriptions of the most commonly encountered plant fossils from Republic and some of the rarer forms you might find.

This introduction tells you about the Republic fossil site, then a little about how fossil plants are studied.  It explains how to identify the fossil you have found.  The rest of this volume will provide you with photos and descriptions of Republic plant fossils so you may identify your newly unearthed treasure!
