Fossil Hunt at our Eocene Fossil Site

The public is welcome to visit Stonerose and search for their own fossils in our Eocene fossil beds. At the time of your visit, the Stonerose staff will explain our rules for digging and how to find fossils. After showing all your finds to the staff for identification, you may keep three fossils per day.

corner lot dig 042415Learn the tricks and tips of fossil collecting with our resident Fossil Hound, Gregg Wilson, long time Stonerose Member.

This three hour tour includes tools, quarry techniques, fossil identifications, a snack, and pictures of you with your finds. Best of all, this tour includes working in the unique area referred to as the “Corner Lot”, a quarry reserved for our most experienced diggers and researchers.

You’ll be able to keep up to three of your finds (unless you are lucky enough to have found something that we feel needs further study)!

The fee for this uncommon opportunity is a $40 per person donation to Stonerose. This tour is geared towards adults; kids under 18 who are budding fossil hounds are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Space is limited so call today to sign up!   509-775-2295 Or email us with your details!
